Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can no longer put of a major crisis inching closer as the couple is forced to make a difficult decision.
The claims are being made by sources close to the couple following their idyllic Portuguese retreat and UK visit with alleged financial turmoil growing.
Last month, the Duke of Sussex suffered a massive blow losing his phone hacking case he had filed against the Daily Mail publishers with six other claimants, racking up a legal bill in “millions”.
There were already reports of the couple struggling to keep up their finances to support their lavish lifestyle, now Harry and Meghan are faced with a heartbreaking decision to sell their vacation home.
They had reportedly both a home in Portugal to spend their holidays as a family but everything is under scrutiny and “this is one of their biggest expenses after Montecito, if not the biggest”.
“Even though it’s a newer property, there are still plenty of costs beyond the millions they spent to buy it,” a source told Closer magazine. They noted that apart from annual club fees, there is insurance, taxes, maintenance, and all the other day-to-day costs”.
“Neither of them wants to even think about selling it because they see it as their dream holiday home, but they’re also having to be realistic.”
The insider pointed out that this was their ticket to maintaining a European lifestyle as their terms with the royals are also improving slightly. However, it is all getting “very expensive”.
“They’re doing everything they can to hold onto it because they absolutely love having that escape, but the reality is they’re having to look at every major outgoing,” they added. “If things don’t improve financially, it’s definitely one of the assets that will very likely end up on the chopping block, as painful as that would be.”
