A teenage girl attending the music festival in the Lake District died after medical episode on Sunday morning, August 2, 2026.
According to the Cumbria police, the teenager, who is said to have been aged 17, collapsed in the early hours of Sunday morning, August 2.
The Kendal Calling, an annual music and arts festival, was being organised at Lowther Deer Park in Hackthorpe, near Penrith.
The teen girl was announced dead at the spot after paramedics tried to revive her, but she couldn’t be saved.
Police officials from Cumbria appealed to the event-goers, who must come forward if they have any information about the incident.
In a statement, Cumbria spokesperson said, “Emergency services were called to the Kendal Calling festival site at 2:13 a.m. this morning, August 2, 2026, following reports of a teenage girl suffering a medical episode.”
Cumbria officials are trying to figure out what actually happened and are keen to hear accounts from a group of women who had alerted the organisers after raising concerns for the girl’s safety.
“Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare,” the spokesperson added.
The Kendal Calling summer festival has been called the Glastonbury of the North, a yearly edition that drew about 40,000 people.
