Tiffany Haddish is keeping her freedom — but not getting off completely — after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor alcohol-related driving charge tied to her 2022 arrest in Georgia.
The comedian and actress entered her plea by video on August 11, according to the Associated Press. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation and ordered to stay away from drugs and alcohol and complete a substance abuse evaluation.
Haddish was also credited for the short time she already spent behind bars following the arrest. The remaining charges were dropped, the AP reported.
The case began in January 2022, when Peachtree City police received a 911 call about a driver who had reportedly fallen asleep at a traffic light. Officers later stopped a vehicle matching the description on Highway 74.
“Subsequent investigation led to Ms. Tiffany Haddish being arrested for Driving Under the Influence,” police told People magazine at the time. “She was transported to the Fayette County Jail without incident.”
Haddish posted bond and was released hours later.
Her legal troubles didn’t end there. In November 2023, she was arrested in Beverly Hills on suspicion of DUI. She reached a deal with prosecutors in February 2024, pleading no contest to a vehicle code violation while two misdemeanor DUI charges were dropped.
Despite the bumps, Haddish’s career has remained firmly in the spotlight. Her 2017 breakout in Girls Trip turned her into a household name, followed by an Emmy win and a Grammy for Black Mitzvah.
For now, the comedian’s latest court chapter comes with probation — not another trip to jail.
