Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally step into the ring together after years of failed negotiations, call-outs and doubts over whether the fight would ever actually happen.
The two former heavyweight world champions will fight at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday, December 11, 2026.
And fans won’t need a traditional pay-per-view to watch it. The fight will stream live globally on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers.
Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh confirmed the showdown on Thursday, bringing an end to the latest round of uncertainty over where the fight would take place.
“For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight,” Alalshikh wrote on X.
“The time for talking is over.”
Fury and Joshua have spent much of the past decade as the two biggest names in British heavyweight boxing, yet somehow never fought each other.
At one point, they appeared close to meeting for all the heavyweight belts in 2021. Contracts were signed, but the fight fell apart after an arbitration ruling meant Fury had to face Deontay Wilder for a third time.
Other attempts followed. None got them into the ring. Even this year’s negotiations weren’t exactly straightforward.
New York’s Madison Square Garden emerged as a possible venue, while Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn pushed hard for the fight to remain in Britain.
Cardiff eventually won out. Both fighters also had to make sure they got through their warm-up bouts in July.
Joshua’s night nearly went badly wrong. The 36-year-old was knocked down twice in the opening round by Kristian Prenga before recovering to stop the Albanian in the second.
Fury had a quieter night in Thailand, stopping 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in seven rounds.
Neither man will arrive in Cardiff with a world title.
Fury, 37, has twice lost to Oleksandr Usyk, while Joshua has also suffered two defeats against the Ukrainian. Joshua later lost to Daniel Dubois in 2024.
But belts were never really what made Fury-Joshua such a big fight.
For British boxing fans, it has always been about finally finding out what happens when the two defining British heavyweights of their generation are put in the same ring.
They’ll finally get that answer on December 11.
