Jenna Ortega’s new look leaves her longtime fans concerned as “getting thinner” trend is taking over Hollywood.
The Wednesday star has become the center of a wave of concern online after new interview footage sparked intense discussion about her noticeably slimmer appearance.
Side-by-side images comparing her recent look with photos of the actress from 2025 have been circulating widely on social media, with fans expressing shock over what they perceive as a significant change in her face and frame.
Comments quickly filled the posts, with some fans being worried and joking about what might have caused the transformation.
“Tethered to a demon and it’s draining her,” one person quipped.
Another commented, “She literally has become skin and bones,” while another fan added, “I feel sorry for her.”
The reaction comes at a particularly striking moment because the Scream actress has recently opened up about the pressures she experienced as a child actor.
In a new Esquire interview, she recalled going to extreme lengths not to inconvenience anyone on set, including sometimes spending entire days without eating or drinking.
“I wasn’t asking for a sip of water,” the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress recalled. “I would go all day without eating, drinking, whatever, because I wanted so badly to not be in the way of anybody.”
Looking back, she acknowledged that failing to care for herself may have been one of her biggest mistakes as a young performer.
Her comments have added another layer to the conversation surrounding the recent images.
Although the 23-year-old artist has not said that her current appearance is connected to her childhood habits, nor publicly attributed any recent weight change to medication, some social-media users have linked her appearance to the wider Hollywood conversation surrounding extreme thinness and the popularity of GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
The discussion has intensified in recent years as celebrities have spoken publicly about using drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro, while others have pushed back against assumptions about their bodies.
Sharon Osbourne, for example, previously spoke candidly about becoming “too gaunt” after using Ozempic and said she had fallen below 100 pounds and struggled to regain weight.
Kelly Clarkson has also faced speculation over her dramatic weight loss, but she specifically pushed back on claims that she was taking Ozempic.
Clarkson said she was taking a different prescription medication after being diagnosed with prediabetes and dealing with blood-sugar issues.
Those examples illustrate why fans have increasingly connected dramatic celebrity transformations with the broader GLP-1 conversation.
However, in Ortega’s case, there is currently no confirmation that she has used Ozempic or another GLP-1 medication, making any such claim speculation.
