The Beckham family may be enjoying summer in luxury, but the family feud is apparently still very much on the itinerary.
David and Victoria Beckham have been soaking up the sun aboard their yacht, while eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and wife Nicola Peltz have been spending time in the South of France with Brooklyn’s godfather, Elton John, and his husband, David Furnish.
The awkward part? The two camps were reportedly just miles apart.
According to reports, David, 51, and Victoria, 52, were in St. Tropez while Brooklyn, 27, and Nicola, 31, were nearby with Elton. The younger couple later reportedly visited places in St. Tropez just minutes away from Brooklyn’s parents.
A source told Closer magazinethat the family situation remains unchanged: “‘Nothing has changed. That is to say, neither party has reached out to the other. It’s devastating and, of course, David and Victoria would love nothing more than for their eldest boy to be with them on holiday.”
Elton, who is godfather to both Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, has reportedly tried playing peacemaker. The source added that he has spoken with both sides but “‘respects Brooklyn’s wish for silence’.”
The latest sighting comes months after Brooklyn publicly declared that he did not want to reconcile with his family, accusing his parents of putting “Brand Beckham” ahead of him and Nicola.
David and Victoria have largely avoided discussing the feud publicly. Victoria previously said, “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.”
David, meanwhile, shut down questions about the family drama, saying, “To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.”
So much for a peaceful family summer.
