Britney Spears sees and hears the criticism surrounding her infamous dance videos, yet she dances anyway.
The Princess of Pop revealed the real reason why she dances so “differently,” explaining the true meaning behind her unique moves while sharing another dancing video to her Instagram on Friday, August 21.
“I know I dance differently,” Spears, 44, wrote alongside a video of her in a polka dot dress dancing to the piano piece, Comptine d’un autre été, from the 2001 French film Amelie.
“I use my hands as a way to say what I need to say cus sometimes words are too hard,” she explained, demonstrating by using her hands expressively in the new interpretive dance.
The Grammy-winner added, “This song and dance represents… Death and rebirth !!! CELEBRATION OF REBIRTH !!!”
Spears has been posting her dance videos for years. But it was when she began dancing with knives in 2023 when her videos gained a lot of attention, prompting a police welfare check.
At the time, she clarified that the knives were fake and she was simply attempting to “push boundaries.”
“I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA,” she explained, per Fox News. “I’m trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira.. A performance I was inspired by !!! Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks.”
