Francesca Hong and Crowley raced for Wisconsin Democratic Governor primary in a neck-and-neck race until the last polls closed on early Wednesday, August 12.
According to a CNN projection, Crowley currently has a thin lead with 39.9%, and her rival Hong trails at 39.6%, with 94% of the total votes in.
The lead is too narrow to call the race for either state Rep. Hong or Milwaukee County Executive Crowley in the battleground state of Wisconsin.
State Rep. Hong addressed the crowd at her election night party, saying, “We are ready to keep fighting. I feel confident, but more importantly, I am so deeply grateful.”
“We are here tonight to demand something new and something better,” she added.
Hong, a democratic socialist, came out of the blue building her campaign after gaining much public spotlight.
On the other hand, Milwaukee County Executive Crowley, who has the backing of the Democratic Party establishment, exited the race a month ago, only to re-join the race 10 days later backed by outgoing Democratic Tony Evers.
The winner will set a clash with GOP Rep. Tom Tiffany, whose candidature was endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the November midterms.
