Ed Sheeran has ended up in court over his beloved car Aston Martin.
The singer says that it all happened because of a simple misunderstanding as he told the court that he honestly believed that the garage, who was looking after his car, already sorted out the insurance.
Sheeran was fined £666 after his classic 1966 Aston Martin was found to be uninsured while it was being repaired.
He, however, also got to pay £100 in court costs and a £266 victim extra charge.
The car has been at Aston Workshop Ltd since 2021, where it is being restored and turned into an electric vehicle.
During all that time, the car hasn’t been on the road because the work didn’t finish.
In a letter to the court, Sheeran explained that he thought the garage’s insurance covered the car while it stayed with them.
The Perfecthitmaker also added that he has not even got the car with him since 2021 because it has remained at the workshop.
He then apologised for the matter reaching court and said he never wanted to break any rules, describing the whole situation as a genuine misunderstanding.
Ed Sheeran went on to add that he never saw the DVLA’s first letter offering him a chance to settle the issue outside court.
