The first trailer for Jumanji: Open Worldhas finally arrived.
While fans are excited for another wild adventure, many are just as amused by one familiar sight, Dwayne Johnson back in the jungle.
Social media quickly filled with jokes about the actor’s long-running association with jungle-set adventures.
“The Rock really has a lifetime membership to this jungle,” one fan joked.
“At this point, the jungle is The Rock’s natural habitat,” another quipped.
A third added, “The Rock is not stuck in the jungle, the jungle is stuck in The Rock.”
The playful comments reference Johnson’s long list of films featuring tropical forests.
Besides portraying Dr. Smolder Bravestone in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle(2017), Jumanji: The Next Level(2019), and now Jumanji: Open World, the actor has also headlined Disney’s Jungle Cruise(2021).
He has also appeared in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island(2012), and ventured through the Amazon in The Rundown(2003).
Directed by Jake Kasdan, Jumanji: Open Worldreunites the former professional wrestler with Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
Danny DeVito, Awkwafina, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain and Morgan Turner also return, while Brittany O’Grady joins the franchise as a newcomer.
Unlike the previous films, the latest chapter flips the familiar formula. Instead of players being pulled into the game, the magical world of Jumanji spills into reality.
Stuck in “demo mode,” Bravestone, Finbar, Oberon and Roundhouse must navigate life outside the game.
The trailer promises giant jungle creatures, explosive action, body-swapping chaos and plenty of comedy between fans’ favourite duo Johnson and Kevin Hart.
With its signature mix of action, humour and nostalgia, Jumanji: Open World is set to bring the franchise to a close when it opens in theaters on December 25, 2026.
