Buckingham Palace was quick to share the joyful announcement.
The Palace confirmed that Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, had safely welcomed their baby daughter on Monday, August 3, at 6:20pm in a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The newborn weighed a healthy 6lb 9oz.
In its official statement, they revealed that the happy couple were “delighted” by their daughter’s arrival and that King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family had been informed and were equally thrilled by the news.
The announcement came shortly after Princess Eugenie shared an intimate first photograph of her newborn on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt message revealing just how overjoyed she and Jack are to welcome their “girlie.”
Eugenie and Jack’s growing family and becomes another great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
The newborn is now 15th in line to the British throne, moving several members of the Royal Family down by one place.
Princess Eugenie remains 12th in the line of succession, followed by her sons, August and Ernest, with their new baby sister taking the 15th spot.
