Kevin Feige recalled one real-life moment that helped the creative team shape a crucial scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Speaking at a special screening and Q&A at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in July, Marvel Studios president reflected on the movie’s first week of production in Glasgow, Scotland, where crowds quickly gathered around the filming.
“There were hundreds of people on the street and they were all filming,” he recounted, explaining that the scenes generated plenty of attention even before the movie was completed.
However, it was the fans’ reaction that stayed with the filmmakers.
“People literally coming out and saying, ‘We love you, Spider-Man,’” the Marvel Boss shared.
He explained that there was something thrilling about people knowing that, somewhere nearby, “there was a guy in a suit swinging” through the streets.
The genuine reaction from people during the very first days of filming helped influence the ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which features a crowd cheering for Spider-Man.
For Feige, the reaction offered a striking reminder of just how much the character means to audiences. That enthusiasm also energized the production team, including director Destin Daniel Cretton, and eventually found its way into the film itself.
The revelation adds another layer to the blockbuster’s success. Spider-Man: Brand New Dayreportedly crossed the $900 million mark domestically, a milestone achieved by only one other movie previously, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
