
Mathilde Favier died at the age 57 in a tragic road accident in France on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was a longtime public relations director at acclaimed fashion company, Dior Couture.
The French fashion house confirmed the “accidental death” of their PR director and expressed grief over her tragic death.
The multinational cooperation of luxury goods paid a heartfelt tribute to the late PR maestro, describing her as “exceptional woman whose communication skills, talent and loyalty left a lasting mark on the fashion house.”
Favier died alongside her partner, French film producer Nicolas Altmayer, in a crash in Airvault in France’s Deux-Sèvres region on Monday.
French authorities have revealed that the couple’s vehicle collided with a heavy truck while overtaking another vehicle. The truck driver did not suffer any major injuries. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Favier was considered one of the most influential PR directors in the fashion industry. She helped Dior reach new heights by connecting it with some of the world’s biggest stars. including Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Anya Taylor-Joy and Blackpink’s Jisoo.
Before joining Dior, the late PR director spent more than a decade at Prada.
In addition to her career in the fashion industry, she was also a well-known author. In 2024, Favier published Living Beautifully in Paris, a coffee-table book offering an insider’s look at Parisian life, fashion, interiors and the influential people in her circle.
