The search for Nancy Guthrie took a new turn after police decided to release two ransom notes which are linked to her disappearance.
Investigators hope that the letters will help someone remember an important detail and finally bring new answers.
Nancy, the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in February.
She has not been found since.
Police shared that they made the notes public because they believe the words, writing style or other details can help someone recognise who wrote them.
Investigators, however, hope that some member of the public will come forward with any kind of information that could move the case forward.
The first letter claimed that Nancy was kidnapped and demanded 4 million dollars in Bitcoin for her safe return.
A second letter, which was sent a few days later, claimed that she died right after she was taken and added she’s been buried somewhere in nature.
Police have not confirmed if the letters are genuine but they are treating them as an important part of the investigation.
After the notes were released, Savannah made another emotional appeal for help, asking people if they know something or even recognise the writing.
