- Sindh and southern Balochistan likely to remain hot and humid.
- Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi face risk of heavy downpours.
- Faisalabad records highest rainfall of 77mm during past 24 hours.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, and northeastern Balochistan on Tuesday.
The PMD has warned that isolated heavy to very heavy falls could trigger urban flooding, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to the PMD, hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in the southern parts of the country, including most districts of Sindh and Balochistan, where only isolated rain-wind/thundershowers are expected in Zhob, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Dera Bugti and adjoining areas.
The department warned that heavy rains during Tuesday could inundate low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, the Potohar region, Peshawar and Nowshera.
It further cautioned that landslides may occur in vulnerable hilly areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Shangla and Abbottabad, as well as Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir during the forecast period.
The PMD also warned that heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, the Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, partly cloudy weather with rain, wind and thunderstorms is expected, with isolated heavy downpours likely.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Waziristan.
In Punjab, rain-wind/thundershowers accompanied by isolated heavy falls are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Layyah, Bhakkar and Noorpur Thal, while southern districts are expected to remain hot and humid.
Cloudy weather with rain-wind/thundershowers and isolated heavy rainfall is also forecast for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
During the past 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls occurred at scattered places in Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, while isolated rainfall was recorded in Mirpurkhas and Barkhan. Faisalabad received the highest rainfall of 77 millimetres, followed by Sialkot city with 73mm, Bahawalpur city 64mm, Gujrat 54mm and Mandi Bahauddin 49mm.
The highest maximum temperature recorded in the country on Monday was 45 degrees Celsius in Dalbandin, followed by 44 degrees Celsius in Nokkundi and Sibbi.
