Travis Kelce just called Taylor Swift “my wife” in public for the very first time since their star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Speaking to reporters at Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Wednesday, August 12, the three-time Super Bowl champion made first statement about his nuptials with the 14-time Grammy winner.
The NFL star recalled the celebration as a “crazy night” and describe it as “the best night of my life,” thanking those who came to celebrate with the newlyweds.
“MSG, man,” he said, explaining that visiting the legendary arena had long been a childhood dream.
The athlete had imagined attending a Knicks playoff game there, but missed the opportunity while he was away at Chiefs minicamp.
“My wife went when I was stuck in a training minicamp,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said, referring to Swift’s appearance at a Knicks playoff game.
His “my wife” moment quickly went viral on social media, with Swifties going gaga over Kelce’s affectionate use of the term.
For a couple whose relationship has generated intense public fascination since they began dating, the casual use of “my wife” represented a notable shift in Kelce’s language.
Rather than carefully describing the Cruel Summerchart-topper as a partner or significant other, he spoke about her naturally as his spouse.
The venue itself, meanwhile, appears to have made the wedding especially meaningful for Kelce.
He called it the “mecca of all sports venues” and said getting married there allowed him to fulfill a dream he had carried since childhood.
Kelce also thanked Madison Square Garden’s owners for giving the couple the opportunity to celebrate there privately.
