Rockstar Games made a surprise move; no one saw it coming, announcing the first GTA 6 gameplay premiere on Netflix and skipping altogether Trailer 3.
Grand Theft Auto 6, a.k.a. GTA 6, fans will be able to see the first “Extended Look” of GTA 6 on Netflix on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET.
Surprisingly, it will be the fourth time in Rockstar Games’ mysterious marketing style that the big news will arrive on Thursday.
The timeline is interesting; the live event on Netflix will be followed by release on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel just after six hours.
Rockstar Games has kept it simple: more views, more revenue and multiple platforms.
This marks the first time in the history of GTA 6’s publisher that the new release will be made public in a different format, opting for Netflix this time around.

During the premiere of ‘Extended Look’ on Netflix and drop on the YouTube channel or the GTA 6 portal, there will be a six-hour window starting at 3 p.m. ET on August 27.
A time slot that would offer Netflix subscribers to cash in on the first exclusive “Extended look” of the game of the decade: GTA 6.
According to the streaming giant Netflix, “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.”
With Rockstar Games already in a league of its own, joining hands with Netflix makes sense when coupled with the fever-pitch hype around GTA 6.
Although, many questions still persist as to how long the footage will be premiered on Netflix and what’s in store for GTA 6 fans to know.
But from a pure marketing angle, it offers a win-win situation for both Netflix and Rockstar Games, with the official launch set for November 19, 2026.
