Jennifer Stone opened up about a difficult audition for The Pitt, saying the medical drama brought back memories from her own time working as a nurse.
The actress, who is known for playing Harper Finkle in Wizards of Waverly Place, auditioned for a regular role when the show was first being planned.
At the time, Stone was already working as an emergency room nurse.
She prepared for the audition whenever she had free time at work.
However, the script became hard to read when it touched on the COVID pandemic and the experiences of medical workers.
Stone said she started having a panic attack while reading the final part of the audition.
She faced trouble breathing and had to calm herself by looking around and focusing on things near her.
The experience showed just how close The Pitt is to Stone’s real life. She said the show can also be difficult for her to watch because the medical scenes feel so real.
“I have a hard time watching it ’cause it’s too close to home a little bit,” she said.
The star started working as a nurse in 2022 after spending years as an actress.
She also worked as a disaster relief nurse in 2023.
Although she did not get a role on The Pitt, Stone’s experience shows why the series can feel especially real to people who have worked in healthcare.
Today, she continues to balance both acting and nursing.
