Netflix has cancelled Ransom Canyon after two seasons, leaving fans without another season of the Texas drama.
The show starred Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly as Staten Kirkland and Quinn O’Grady. Their characters grew up together and then later found love with each other.
Season two came out on Netflix on July 23 as the cancellation came only about six weeks later.
So, why did Netflix cancel it?
The biggest reason appears to be the drop in viewers. The first season got 7.2 million views in its first week and season two opened with only just 4.1 million views.
That was a big drop for the show.
Season one, however, also stayed in Netflix’s weekly Top 10 for four weeks. Season two stayed there for only three weeks.
The second season had eight episodes, while the first season had 10. It also brought some changes to the cast and the story.
Still, fans did get one good thing from the ending.
Staten and Quinn, moreover, were together when the second season ended as there was no huge cliffhanger.
The show could have continued with Ellie and Levi, Staten’s half brother but Netflix has now decided to end the story.
Ransom Canyon is officially over after two seasons.
