The Los Angeles Chargers’ former Pro Bowl player Tyler Biadasz has suffered a scary injury in a joint practice with the 49ers on Tuesday, August 18.
Biadasz collided with San Francisco defensive lineman Sebastian Valdez and suffered a serious blow to his left knee.
Biadasz appeared to get hurt while the team was running a full-team scrimmage drill during a practice session on Tuesday, August 18.
Biadasz was unable to stand on his feet and had to be stretchered off the field.
For the Chargers, the timing is a major cause of concern as Biadasz was one of the Chargers’ key offseason roster additions on a whopping multi-million dollar contract.
After the Washington Commanders released Biadasz in February, the Chargers wasted no time to sign him up on a three-year contract valued at $30 million.
The Chargers QB Justin Herbert commented on the incident, saying, “I don’t know exactly what happened but hoping for the best for him.”
His induction was perceived as a key part of the team’s effort to bolster Herbert’s protection up front after injuries ravaged the offensive line last season.
Biadasz’s injury is seen as another blow to the Chargers’s offensive line.
The Chargers’ head coach, Jim Harbaugh has shown optimism that Slater is likely to join the training camp this weekend.
But the Chargers have their options open in the form of a second-round pick Jake Slaughter.
In addition, the Chargers are also keeping a close eye on left tackle Rashawn Slater as he recovers from a knee flare-up.
